I see I didn't make myself very clear the first post of my question. I am running x3 and considering upgrading but do you think I would be better off waiting for x5 to come out? From what I have been told the trace in x4 far surpasses that in x3.
Thanks in advance,
Vic

It really seems to depend on what you are tracing. For the most part, I was happier with the traces I got in X3. However, X4 has centerline trace and that really does help in some situations.

I don't think the trace feature (centerline) is enough to justify an upgrade; especially when X5 is in beta testing.

that was the conclusion I am leaning toward

Are you going to be creating your own designs, or having Corel trace images for you? If it's the former, knowing what I know, I would wait for X5. If you cannot wait for another 3-4 months and feel the extra features of X4 are useful, you do what you gotta do... but I would consider it a waste to purchase one version of software when the one you have works fine and a new version will be out in just a few months.

Corel will let you download the X4 version and use it for I think 10 days or maybe longer. Download and install when you have the time to commit to a good evaluation. Try the new bells and whistles and see if it is impressive enough. If not, wait for X5.

i was on the Corel site today and they have trials for all of their latest software. Even if you decide to buy, you can return after 30 days and get your money back. 100% satisfaction! :)
