Here is a Flat Bottom Sycamore Bowl I made this week. I made it as a Nut Bowl, but while I am waiting for my Pecans, I'm using it as a fruit bowl for now.

It is 11.5 inches in diameter and is about 2.5 inches high. Walnut Oil finish and buffed. What ya think?

I really like it... part of me wants to see a little detail around the rim, but I love the substantial look of the bowl. The color is much richer than what I typically see from sycamore around here. Very nice.

Bill - really nice! First thing I noticed was the rich color! Really pretty wood! Bowl will work great for nuts or fruits or anything else you want to use as a center piece! Nice work!

Bill,
Very nice. I just finished a salad bowl in Sycamore and love the grain. Mine turned a lot darker when I put the walnut oil on it. Maybe after it dries it will lighten up.

Nice looking bowl.
I like the nice added detail on the bottom also. The one I did using sycamore didn't look this rich in color.
Nice job

That's a nice looking bowl. I'm not usually too crazy about flat bottomed bowls but this one looks really good. I'm curious though to know if it stays flat. My experience with flat bottoms is that they often become rockers.

Bill, Love the wood and the shape. Was it hard to get the bottom flat and finishing up near the sides? Looks hard. Nice job!

No it wasn't hard. I used a Square End Scraper at the corners and used a very light touch.

Are you sure that is not fruit wood? Aw nuts i did not mean to say that, but I had to.:D (ok ok I apologize).
Good looking bowl design no matter what you will use it for.
