OK, ya'll are responsible for putting me in this vortex !!!! :)

This is a Bartlett Pear Hollow Form with a Canary Wood bottom. This is turned end-grain and the center was completely rotted away. Put the canary wood on the bottom to conceal the void. It is 7" tall and 4" wide at the widest point. EEE polish and Beall buffed. It is less than 1/4" thick.

Very nice, will look great with a few fall flowers in it.

Nice vase! I like the natural void in the side. Plus I'll bet it made for a handy viewfinder while hollowing and for convienient chip removal.

Hey Curt,
You're right. At the right speed you could see the cutter tip through the side. And, stop the lathe, rotate the void to the bottom, put the tip of the air hose in the top hole, cover it with my hand and the chips would simply blow out the bottom! It was a fun piece.

Ray that is a great looking vase out of some pretty wood. The void really looks nice.
