I was looking for something to use to make some shopmade chucks for the PM, and came across these (http://www.woodworkingshop.com/cgi-bin/D43CE42E/mac/additmdtl.mac/showItemDetail?item=WK01102&qtyA=0&phsO=N&desc=1%201%2F4%22%20X%208%20TPI%20ADAPTER%20%28RH% 20INSERT%29&drpshp=N&alOrd=Y&iQty=.000&oQty=.000&initQty=1&assortParent=N&itemForSale=Y&styleName=&fixD=&face=.00&gftc=&stck=Y&prefS=&calledFrom=DS&ordInfo1=&ordInfo2=&ordInfo3=&ordMan1=N&ordMan2=N&ordMan3=N&persCode=&persReqd=&persLink=%20&shipRemaining=0&daysBetween=0&daysBetweenFix=0&monthsBetween=0) cheaper than a nut of the same size and MADE for the lathe. I plan to insert these into a block of wood and make some wooden faceplates, I will drill and tap a small hole for a set screw in the base for reverse turning. One will become a dedicated vac. chuck!http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/images/smilies/OrangeMedium/Drogar-BigGrin(DBG).gif

Looks like a really good price for metal! I picked up one of these and it works well: http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/12719
