but I've been tasked with replacing the signage on our retail stores. It was installed 10-15 years ago. The owners cheaped out with 3/4" foam board, which now looks like doo-doo. The new signage is 3/4" MDF, primed, sealed and painted.. My problem is that the foam was installed with RTV sillicon. While the old foam comes off quite easily, the silicon remains...resisting all efforts to scrape, cut or chemically remove(Tried "goo=gone, and WD40. and a heat gun). The walls are steel panel and seem to be powder coat or baked enamel.
Short of grinding, is there anything that you could recommend?
While the new signage is pretty, the walls look like a flock of flying jellyfish crashed into them.
Please help!!!

You have to scrape the bulk of it off. I'd use the "Lil Chizler", a plastic razor-like took that's available at most sign supplies.

Then you can get the rest off with Rapid Remover (sold at the same sign supplies) and a lot of rubbing.
