A good tip for ageing wood is to use a tablespoon full of Caustic Soda to a litre of water and use one of those plastic bottles with the trigger in spray mode.
And spray the wood sparingly and allow to dry. Try it on a bit of scrap wood at first and compare it to a piece of wood that has not been treated. This treatment is especially good on pine as it turns the wood yellow
