I'm trying to find a piece of hardware that I've seen before but don't know the proper name for it.

It's a metal pin with a head on it. The head is just a bit larger in diameter than the shaft. The best way that I know to describe it is that it looks kinda like a nail but it doesn't have a point on the end opposite the head. It's flat on that end, possible a slight chamfer.

Anyone have the name for this part and a source for it? Thanks.

Maybe a drift pin?

If you could describe how it is used I might be able to see it better.

Tom I think has just what you are looking for, Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply both have them.

You can also make them with a long bolt, just cut it off to the length you need and drill a hole in the end for the hair pin. Most long bolts do not have threads running up all the way so you have a clean area to make the pin.
