How does most people store their wood? I notice that many people lean them against the wall as I would think that would allow the wood to get a bow in it.

Wouldn't it be better to store them horizontal?

My lumber yard stores boards vertically. They are packed tight with adjustable sliders that prevent bowing.

The yard stores sheet goods flat but I store them on end . . . hmmmmm.

Now don't view my pic of my wood storage on the other thread about wood storage...otherwise this will seem a bit hypocritical. But, my experience is that wood does best laid horizontally, on end/edge. It is less likely to bend with gravity and then staying that way when on edge. If laid horizontally on its face, it can sag, and stay that way. Just my experience...

I've been storing wood vertically for years with no problems. Care needs to taken for adequate support, but access is greatly enhanced, and it requires less space, at least in my case. I can store 700+ bf in a space of 2' x 6'.
