Shop Fox T20834 16 Speed Floor Model Drill Press, sorry for not including that. I need it for general woodworking, cabinet and furniture building and my wife wantsto start making pens.

For pen making I would think that you would need some more spindle travel. The Steel City has 6" but it cost quite a bit more.

I would want more spindle travel from a drill press for wood working.

More spindle travel is great, BUT when on a budget you get the best that you can.

I used a small bench top dp and had no porblems, just had to leave the blank half on the bit, and raise the table...

BUT if you are looking to use the DP for mostly pen making you would be better off spending the money and a good system to drill on the lathe...
