I work in a pulp mill and we use Metabo drills and grinders.

If I may suggest, if you get a more common drill, like a Makita, it will be easier to get parts and batteries.

I tried the Metabo compact drill at a WW show. It was nice, but at that time, about a year ago, it was still NiCad, not LI. I won't buy anything but LI now, because they don't lose a charge.

I can't speak about the Fein 12v but I burned out the 14.4 after 2-years of light use. Love my Fein vac but would not purchase another Fein driver.

I went with the LI Makita 18v BDF452HW compact driver as a replacement.

Well, I am not 'popular', but I can give you my tool review. I have had at least a dozen drills/drivers. I would also recommend the Makita 18V Lithium drill or driver. This is not much more $ than the 12V, weighs about the same as my previous Makita NiCad 12V, and will do anything you need.

I have a bad rotator cuff, and can't lift too much, and the Makita works well for me. I have the kit with the drill and the impact driver. The impact driver gets used 10x what the drill does, and weighs less. I also currently use a compact 12V Rigid. It works good, but weighs as much as the 18V Makita. I keep it in the truck for work on rentals.

Fein is made in china- I would look at Panaisonic, Makita or Bosch.
