hey all ive just started making a pair of wood planes and plan on using hocks iron and chipbreaker. does anyone know the thickness of the two when together. hocks website says 3/16 but i think they mean just the iron. thanks

You are right, 3/16" is just the blade thickness. I believe the chipbreaker is 1/8". Make sure you have blade and chipbreaker in hand and build the plan around it. I use the blade to finalize my plan and lay it on full size drawings. It keeps me from adding wood to the scrap bin.

I just measure mine and they are at 5/16" at the thikest when assemble( not counting of cours the screw). but like Phillip said, have the blade on hand to make the plane!
