Hey all - I've looked all over but can't find anything. Does anyone know of a helical cutterhead that can be installed on this planer (tp1300). This is the ridgid model previous to the current ridgid model (it has a 2 blade cutterhead)?

I'm trying to reduce noise somewhat and also solve the problem of blades getting nicked too often.

Also, any tips on how to reduce noise overall with this machine? It's a screamer even while not cutting anything. Would getting a different set of motor brushes help? Basically, anything along these lines would help.

(I know, get a big planer with a shelix head... :-) )

Nathan,

Doing a search in this forum with rigid planer spiral as the search words resulted in this:

http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=121021&highlight=rigid+planer+spiral

There were others.

One of the links in that thread lead to this:

http://www.accu-head.com

Go to that website, select order; input Ridgid and select planer and they have spiral heads for the TP-4330 and the TP-1300.

Thanks Ken - I knew I wasn't using the right term. I was googling helical and not spiral!

I see that accu-head has a cutterhead for the tp1300 for $249. Nice. Thanks!

Just an FYI; this head has HSS inserts, not carbide.
