Cutting Rough Pecan

I have a few pecan logs (4" to 6" in dia.) that I would like to cut down to 1" boards for small projects down the line. I have a Delta 10" bandsaw but I am doubtful it will do it. Would a 1/2 blade on this saw be big enough? If not what method could I use to get them down close to 1". I have a planer that would help if I get them close just not sure where to start. I have never messed with rough lumber before like this. Thanks !!!!

My opinion is they are too small to mess with. 4-6" sounds like branches. If they are branches, they'll twist and turn worse than regular hickory.

I think it would be worth your time to think twice about your project.

I doubt that your 10" bandsaw will do.Especially if the wood is at all moist. Pecan is a lot like hickory,and I expect it would make good handles for hammers,axes,etc.

In the furniture factories in N.carolina,they used pecan,staining it to look like other woods.
