Apparently

this ad suggests the newer 744 TS must have
longer arbors to allow dado blades.

I know many complained about the 745
not being able to support a dado

I own a DeWalt 744 table saw and I often use a stacked dado set. The 744 sometimes becomes just a dado saw in my shop when I am using my PM2000 for rip or crosscut. The washer must be left off when using the dado set but that is true even on the PM2000.
