stand out letters solid aluminum or dibond?

I have a customer that wants aluminum letters 6" high/ but they want them to stand out so I am thinking dibond would not be practical. any ideas on that? aslo is 1/8" aluminum thick enough or should I use 1/4"

I'd go thicker than 1/8". As for what to use, it would depend on the finish you want on the outside, as to what's available, but you can buy the aluminum with the finish that is on the dibond. Just buy the backer piece, then the aluminum sheet, stick them together and cut all you want.
