Hi:
Which part of a log produces the best wood for turning pens? I got 3 good sized elm logs about 30 inches long and anywhere from 6 to 10 inches in diameter. The center of the larger log is a nice dark red/brown color. Would the center part be ok for making pens?
thanks,
Bob
