Turned this Elm Burl 2 weeks ago. 14 x 4 1/2" High . Finished with antique oil, Buffed with Beal buffs. First Burl in a long time very dry wood Lots of sanding. Comments welcome! G

George - I've turned very little Elm but what I have has been harder than most of the rocks up here! Great job on this! Classic form, beautiful wood and finish! Very nice work!

Sounds like a lot of work, i find sanding pretty boring to, atleast it was a great outcome, nice job.

Awesome figure and nicely shaped, George. I like the finish, too. I think the antique oil finish provides a really nice soft lustre.

George great looking bowl. I have turned a lot of Elm and it is really a nice wood.

Thanks for the replys. That was my first elm and it was hard. I like cherry ,maple and holly much better. G
