A few more ornaments today. First is Walnut and canarywood, second is gambel oak and walnut, third is a natural edged bell from a small cutoff of box elder burl with a padauk handle.

Curt - your ornaments are outstanding - as always! You have really gotten the icicle portions nicely defined! As much as I like the ornaments - the natural edge bell grabs my attention! It seems to have a real flow to the form - creates a feeling of motion!

Very nice work on everything! Glad to see you getting time on the lathe!

Good job.

They all look good, and the natural edge bell is a cool idea.

Curt,

Those are very nice. I always love seeing your segmented Christmas ornaments. One of these days, soon, I'm going to have to try turning one.

Would you mind sharing with us the approximate dimensions?

Thanks everyone!

What is gambel oak?

Richard, gambel oak is just the scub oak that grows here in Utah. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quercus_gambelii (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quercus_gambelii)

Would you mind sharing with us the approximate dimensions?

David, they're all approximately 6+" long and 2" diameter. Here's a pic of one in my hand for perspective.
