While looking around the Harbor Freight site I saw this cabinet saw. I'm not looking to buy it so don't bust my chops, just wondering who was copied to build it?

Heres the manual if anyone wants to compare component pictures.

Looks like a Steel City:

It may not be a copy, it may be a Gee Tech (sp) who make a lot of the Chaiwanese machines.......Rod.

So at $750 price, if a person had one of those 20% off coupons that might be a decent saw for $600?
I'd be hard pressed to spend anywhere near that for a HF tool though.

A machinery dealer, who sold imports, told me that the Asians will put any name you want on their machines if you buy 20 of them.
I wouldn't buy an HF saw because there probably would be no decent customer service if a part was needed, etc. . Anyone know about their services? At Grizzly, you get good customer service.

Would appear to be a Steel City clone, probably made in the same factory with cheaper parts (maybe).

I would imagine it works just fine. 20% off might make it a pretty decent purchase, but isn't it special-order only?

most likely a Delta Unisaw copy like most Chinese saws are. Almost all Chinese machines are copies of US made machines; particularly old delta designs.

It also seems to have some relation to this one.

HF will get you replacement parts. But they literally come on a slow boat from china. I have one of there mini mills and waited for 3 months for a sticky chuck to be replaced. The good part was they didn't just send the chuck. They also sent the R-8 arbor with it.

Was there a bear's head on the rear side ? :D:D:D Would not buy over a Griz anyway. Griz has some mileage with their TS...and with very few flats!

Shop Fox, Grizzly, Steel City, etc. Same saw, different paint.

I don't believe that the Steel City and Grizzly are the same saw.
Can somebody else confirm this?
