My wife and I came across two odd door knobs while remodeling. They are made from, get this, particle board or some variant of it. They where covered with several layers of paint, but I could tell there was some detail work hiding in there. I stuck them in citrus strip before I realized they were not metal, it chewed on one pretty bad. Here are a couple pics of the other. Anything anyone could tell us would be interesting, I have never heard of knobs like this.

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. If there is a better area for this let me know. It don't really qualify as "woodworking" but I thought it might be interesting enough for you all to let me slide.

If they were made from particle board, I would guess they were wet pressed at a factory somewhere.

Cost effective solution before CNC for mass detailed "woodwork".

That was my guess as well. I am looking now to see if I can find anything else out about them.
