Hello,

I've been looking at this Harbor Freight sander, which is priced at $44.99 with coupon (regular price $89.99). Has anyone used this sander and, if so, what's your opinion?

Thanks,

For anything other than model making etc... I would not recommend it from the way it looks.

You would probably be better off getting a decent handheld belt sander and making a jig to hold it stationary.

I wouldn't by any tools from harbor freight. Learned my lesson about cheap tools years ago. To me it just isn't worth it, they will cost you more money in the long run. My advice saw up some more $$ and buy a good one you will be happy you did.

HF has some diamonds in the rough. I have never found any power or precision tools that qualified. I didn't pay much more than that for me C-man that weighs twice as much and is a little trouper. Hopefully (as you asked) an actual owner will chime in.

I agree with the others. I have looked at this one in passing, and its built too cheap. The castings are rough, the machining is inaccurate and the steel is too thin.

I just about bought one from a CL ad for $10. Took a look at it, and decided it wasn't worth $10...

Hi Louis,

I agree with Michael. See my post from 2 years ago. The jig is still working fine with me. I made it in such a way, that a can connect it to my shop vac.
