Steve Schlumph surprised me with a box of wood on my birthday (thanks again Steve, you're a heck of a guy) and these are two of my first shots at turning it. The wood is maple with incredible figure. I don't often get wood with this much going on. I usually turn 'fire' wood that if it doesn't work out nothing is lost. This beautifully figured maple adds some real pressure to not screw it up. Anyway, these are two small curly maple Christmas Bell ornaments. Both are about 1 3/8" diameter, one is 4 1/4 tall with a captive ring on the handle, the other is 4 3/4" tall. The curly maple speaks for itself.

Happy Birthday Curt!

Absolutely beautiful bells! Great form on both and the wood just jumps out at you! Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with!

Wow! As a real newbie spindle turner, and one that doesn't get excited over bowls and hollow forms, these really do something for me. Very nice.
