The rubber grips on my Cole Jaws were too short to use for my bangles and too short to safely retain some platters or bowls by the rim. Found a solution that did not require me to make wooden grippers.
Found single hole test-tube hard rubber stoppers, 1 inch long from a scientific supply house that do the trick. Bought some 1 1/2 inch long Hex Cap Screws, M6-1.00 x 40 (big box store) and appropriate washers that fit my Nova Cole Jaws. Since the rubber stoppers are a bit bigger in diameter, it reduces the maximum rim size you can hold in compression. Conversely, it increases the maximum diameter you can grip in expansion mode. I have no financial interest in the supplier of the stoppers but if you want address, send me an email. The stopper description is, "Stoppers #6, 1-hole" and they come 6 pieces in a bag. The center hole is the right size to fit the M6-1.00 x 40 Hex Cap Screws. See attached photos.

clever, Ernie. ;) I'm going to store that idea in my mental hard drive.

How about posting a link to the supplier's site?

Jim, check you email. Sent contact info.

Guys. Appreciate your words. Just trying to help if anyone else had the problem of short grippers on the Cole Jaws. After all, we're all here to help each other and figured I would try to give back a little bit. Works for me and what I need them for.
