Hello,
Long time lurker here - thought I would post some of my latest turnings. I've been turning for about six months on a Jet mini and the vortex has me now......
Bill

Picture 1: Four Small White Oak bowls 4 1/2" X 2" (made from a tree that fell on my neighbor's house)

Picture 2: Osage Orange 5 1/2" x 3"

Picture 3: Figured White Oak 7" x 2 1/2"

Picture 4: Sycamore 8" x 3"

Picture 5: Ash mallet 10 1/2" x 3"

Thanks for looking. C&C welcome

Bill -Welcome to the Creek! Very nice work! Really like all of your Oak bowls! Very pretty wood and you did a great job of capturing all the rays!

Looking forward to seeing more of your work real soon!

Looks like you have the photo posting thing all figured out!

Love that oak... I agree that the figure is very nice. Your midi must have a lot more power than my Rikon as the oak tends to bog down the motor on mine pretty badly. Look forward to seeing more pics.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

David - The jet mini has 1/2 hp - same as the Rikon I believe. It was a little scary turning that figured oak. I kept expecting it to come apart on me. I took light cuts and left it a little thick.

Bill you did very good, as everyone moans about the splitting Oak, you have the bowls with even the pith right in it and the others not centered at all and see how great they look, no split either, I think they are beautiful pieces, yes very well done.

Bill, I say welcome again! It looks like you are on your way to having every flat surface in your home filled with turnings like the rest of us! I love the look of the white oak as well, like Leo said the white oak is a bear to not have crack and you pulled it off with style! Thanks for sharing and hope to see more soon!

Nice work. I particularly like the Osage-Orange piece. The photo job on that one makes it look like a sunrise over the nice flat grain in the front. Thanks for posting.

Ron - Thanks, the mallet was feeling a little left out :)

Mark - The Osage Orange piece is much nicer IRL. The front has an iridescent 3D look to it that is lost in the photo.
