What would be a good counter offer price for this jointer?

http://huntsville.craigslist.org/tls/1345545349.html

Considering new G0586 (http://grizzley.com/outlet/8-Jointer-w-2-HP-Motor/G0586) has a better motor, another knife, and longer beds, but is $200 more plus shipping?

Thanks

Jon

I'd go new. With that said, I'm sure the seller would be willing to negotiate.

Also, make sure you have the equipment to check it out and make sure the tables are okay.

When dealing with total strangers I do one of two things:
1.) If I am happy with the price - AND I really want the item - I just pay it.
2.) If I dont know the seller and am not hard up for the item I will offer a lot less, maybe half.

I paid 375 for the same jointer (lever adjustment rather than handwheels) a few months ago. It was in good shape and all it needed was a new set of blades. I see that he's got a spare set of blades with the one you're looking at, but I picked up new blades from this place that are real nice and priced right: www.globaltooling.com (http://www.globaltooling.com).

When I sold my 6" Delta X Jointer.. The guy made me an offer.. So I said .. " I may take that offer, I will let you know "..

He said " what do you mean ?? " ..

I said " I have 2 other guys coming today, waiting for a call.. if they dont take it, or offer less, I will call you and take the offer.. that way, it will still be sold today "..

Lol..

The guy just pulled out the money and paid the price..
