Got some more wood!

My father in law called and offered to help me load up a mess of fallen sycamore (1 year down). We had to use a backhoe to load the logs on my trailer. I spent all afternoon cutting up the logs and "scooping out" the punky inner wood. I have a ton of usable stuff with a lot of 1/4 sawn marks and black spalt marks. I roughed one bowl that night and a whole handfull of pen blanks! She is still pretty darn wet. The pile against the building to the left is black walnut from my dad. Everyone is on the lookout for wood now!

most of the logs look pretty beaten up, except of course the ones against the house, im looking forward to seeing what hidden inside it all.

After you cut it it looks good. Nice catch.. I might suggest that you don't leave it stored next to the house for too long. Termites love houses too.

Yeah that area in the north side of the shop/garage and gets the most shade. The outside of the logs looks a little rough (as did the punky middle of most) but there is a ton of really nice wood. Some of the chunks are going to be limited to shallow bowls, plates or pen blanks.

Congrats on the wood Scott! Sometimes you can get the most beautiful stuff out of the ugliest wood! Sure looks like you got some nice stuff waiting in there for you! Looking forward to seeing what you turn out of it!
