Hi,
I need some help with CorelDRAW 12. I am trying to re-create some text from an exisiting business card. The font I am trying to us is a round point ( don't remember the name of the font right now and it is not on this computer).
I need to be able to get some but not all of the text to "lean" to the right just a bit. How do I do it? Anyone?

If the font doesn't support italics (or if the standard italics isn't what you're looking for..), here's how to get a slanted effect:
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. Type your text into a standard text block

2. Press CTRL+F8 to convert to curves

3. If the object is selected, Click the center 'X' on the object once more (puts it from "stretch" mode into "rotate and shift" mode)

4. Click and drag the top "handle" to stretch the text relative to a base point. (slant)

And you're done!

Might be a better way to do it, but here goes...

1) Get your font to the size/place you want
2) "Convert To Curves" (ctrl-Q)
3) Skew It...

A) "Arrange" ==> "Transformations" ==> "Skew"
B) Put a negative number in the "H" to tilt to the right
C) Click "Apply"

Otherwise try www.1001freefonts.com (http://www.1001freefonts.com)
And if you want a font browser/installer, do a search for the "Font Thing", it's free and pretty good... and free :).

hehe, you're a faster type-er than me Aaron. Your way looks quicker.

Hi Aaron and Shaddy,

I did it, but I used Shaddy's method. Aaron I followed your method as outlined, but I must have missed something. The first time the text went way, the second time the "box" skewed, but the text remained the same. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help

The text going away might have been due to the bounding box being too small. But using CTRL-F8 (convert to "Artistic Text") should prevent this from happening.

For the text staying the same when the box tilts... no idea. You sure you used CTRL-F8? I was also able to use CTRL-Q (Convert to Curves) then use Aarons method.

Weird, maybe give us a step by step of what you're doing.

Shaddy,
Yes, I went through the steps as outlined by Aaron three times. I am thinking maybe the problem is that I STARTED with artistic text. What do you think?

Hi Chuck;
I tried every which way to duplicate your problem and can't. Aaaron's method is very quick and easy. Are you slanting the box with the middle arrows and not rotating it?

Hi George,
Yes, I am using the middle arrows. I will try again later and let you know how it goes. In the mean time, I got the job done, but will try some more just to refine my expertise with Corel.
