I have excitedly been watching an online auctoin of a huge Felder F741 S Professional combo machine. The tool was recoved from an abandoned storage unit and it was being auctioned by the buyer of the rights to the contents of the unit. Seller knew nothing about the tool. Seller unwilling to help load, pickup only, 2440 lbs. The tool was 400 miles away in LA. I found a guy with a traveling fork lift who would load it on a trailer, found the right sized trailer here in phx, found all th ratcheting straps etc for the move. Found a hotel new the storage unit, blocked time off work.
The tool was manufactured in 2006 and it looked like it was barely used and had been in storage for at least a year. The tool was loaded with nearly every feature. 4HP 1 phase, 12: saw with scoring saw, shaper with router spindle 2,000-15,000 RPM, 8 foot slider, 12
jointer and planer and the mortising setup. With all the options and accessories it listed for around $32,000.
I figured that if I sold my big stationary tools I'd get to around $10K. I set my limit at $12,700. Sadly it was not enough. The auction closed at $13,200, not sure how much higher the other bidder would have gone. I'm bummed that it went too high, I was getting very excited for that huge upgrade.
Here are a couple of pics. Maybe someone here won it.

Too bad you didn't win it. That is absolutely my dream set up right there. With my space restraints, a combination machine would be really nice.

But, hey, there is always next time.

Would love to know the circumstances behind that storage unit not keeping up with the rent

If this was a scam run by somebody that is selling stuff from storage units then I feel really bad for the owner of all that stuff.

I like the machine though, but probably bit overkill for me. :)

For that kind of money, you could get nice independent machines anyway. I know a guy who has such a unit, not the same make, but the throat plate is very complex. He can't use a dado, and wants me to machine out a replacement plate. A big pain in the neck. Can't recall the name. Italian made.

I'm in Snowflake. Anytime you want to use it, come on up:rolleyes:

Seriously, That's quite a machine for that price.

wow - what a coinkidink ... a friend of mine was watching that same auction today. His max bid was way lower - kind glad he didn't win it, it would have been a pretty long drive to go pick it up.

Bummer. That is like one hundred christmas presents in one. Still, the excitement of the chase had to be exhilarating?

What I'm wondering is who the hell would "abandon" a thirty thousand dollar piece of equipment in a storage unit?!?!

Makes you wonder? Death, jail, fled the county? I had lots of thoughts. I feel more and more stupid. Felder has a one hour video demo of the machine and I am more sold than ever. I watched the video a day late.
