I have been looking at getting a collet chuck. For turning game calls. Any one have comments on what kind to get or maybe have one to sell? They seem to be hard to find and not that many out there. I looking for 1/2 and 5/8. Thank you

This is the one I have and really like it. I use it a lot for smaller stuff such as finials. Has several sizes.

I picked up a set like these on ebay. (no affiliation) Can't beat the price. These have worked ok for what I have needed them for. Do a couple of searches on collets. There are several selling them. This set only goes to 1/2.

Les,

I have the set of seven Morse Taper 2 collets from Little Machine Shop. They hold items securely and run true. (What more could you want?) I use a draw bar to prevent them from working loose at an inconvenient time. However, as soon as I get around to buying a Beal spindle tap, I'll make a wooden nut to hold the collet in place. This would allow me to use longer stock (with the excess running through the collet into the headstock -- out of the way).

Here's a link to the set I have: http://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=1752&category=

I have the beall chuck, and ordered a collet set from '800watt' on ebay. I have the metric set, but it really doesn't matter because you use which ever one fits the diamater of your material. I'm very happy with the set up.

You may wish to go to u-tube and view Bob Hamilton's videos on making your own collets. Go to u-tube and enter "bobham5". An excellant effort.
Cost is all but free and it works.
