Shop Wall Finish

Im using cdx for my shop walls (couldnt pass up the price). Im thinking a semi-transparent white finish might take some of the ugly out of the cdx, and reflect more light. How would you learned folks suggest I acheive that look?

Exterior stains are a little different from the stains we use on furniture. Exterior ones are complete finishes -- no overcoating is required.
