I love this saw, but there is no built in dust collection. The dust just shoots all over the place. What are people doing to collect dust? Any aftermarket devices or are you building a collection box and port?

Not your saw, but I did this (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=116895). I have since blocked off the hose to the bottom as the one under the table seems to get 90+% of everything. It worked so well I added on to my larger BS (which already had upper and lower cabinet connections) and have an under the table hose on it as well.

Thanks Glenn, that may just be the ticket.

What are you connecting it to? Shop Vac or larger DC?

The one in my first post hooks to a tool activated shop vac that serves my small BS, both DP's and my oscillating sander. The high speed of the vac seems to do better than the DC as long as the volume of dust is not too great.

The bigger BS (found the pic (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=123202&d=1248025668)) runs a 4" to the upper and lower cabinet areas with the same rigid flex stuff to the under the table area. I also did this (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=117823&d=1241835695) to help the upper cabinet duct. The bottom duct is actually sealed off most of the time now.

I picked up a piece of the hose at the show. It was so handy I got a couple pieces from LV during a free shipping deal. Their everyday price is cheaper than my local Rockler and the shipping was free so I saved money and gas on that go-round. I Use it on my primary DP (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=90946) as well.

I have this Saw and you are sure right it spews out a lot of dust when resawing. My shop vac helps a little but I am on my way past Grizzly in MO later this month and I plan to pick up a dust collector for it.

Tim, If you'll hook up some DC to the port on the back of the saw for the lower wheel it will help a little. I think that something like Glenn suggests is the ticket for the rest of the saw.

Glenn, is this black flex hose that you're using rigid enough so that it stays where you put it without having to rig up some kind of clamping device. That's how it appears to be, especially noticeable in your DP set up. If so, what's the name of that particular type of hose? A model #?

Thanks,

Yes, it stays put pretty well where you put it within reason. I have yanked my DP hose around for quite awhile now and it is just as good as day one. The coil molded into the ribs is some sort of spring steel. It was harder than you would expect when I cut some down for my sander (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=121719&d=1246066619).

Lee Valley (http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=62605&cat=1,42401,62604) and Rockler (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=19697&filter=hose) both carry it. Others too I imagine.

Thanks Glenn. I'll have to get a piece of that stuff. That looks like what the Doc ordered for my DP, too. I've been pondering it and I know I want something simple that is quickly moved when necessary.
