This is a piece of Box Elder burl I got this spring. This stuff has some amazing character in it. I turned this HF with just as plain a form as I could so the wood could be the focal point. The burl goes all the way through as you can see in the side profile shots. It also has some of the natural burl edge spikes and a small bark inclusion and some voids. It's 8" x 4.5".

Very nice work Curt. I was just given a Birch Burl by co-worker (pics Pending), but I am not sure how I am going to cut it up. It is a awkward shape. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

Curt,
Excellent hollow form. The box elder around here does not have any of those colors in it. You have turned this HF to show the very best presentation of form and interesting inclusions. The burl in it constrasts with the burl really well. Well done.
