View Full Version : Sweet Gum bowl

This bowl is just under 12" dia. Sweet gum turns great, sometimes it is very plain but this one had nice color. Sorry about the lousy pictures, the one showing the inside is near the actual color. Not sure what I did to screw up the bottom picture.

Beautiful bowl Dennis out of some really good looking wood. I like the rim and foot treatment.

Thanks for posting the pictures Dennis. This gives me something to look forward to. I have 6 roughed out Sweet Gum bowls drying in the shop right now. A couple of months ago I noticed one of the rough-outs looked kind of oval. I took it down off the shelf and measured it. From end grain to side grain it had shrunk just over 3/4". I left it fairly thick so I should still be able to get a decent bowl out of it. Good work!

Dennis - nice looking bowl! Beautiful wood and finish. Interesting rim treatment - really like the carved feet!
