Hello;
The Queen of home finance finally gave into my whinning. We worked with Sean and Kevin from ToolNut. The big unit was delivered to my garage by the happiest truck driver I had ever met, maybe my Joy was acting like an intoxicant.:D I ended up renting an engine hoist to assist in putting the lathe together. I have not had much time to play with it yet, but I am very impressed with it. I upgraded from a Jet 1236, and there is no comparison. As soon as I clear the decks of some other projects I am going to be getting very close to the 3520B.

Happy Turnings,
Mike

Looking good. It looks like you have a plan going with the bowl in progress. You might want to invest in some shower curtains ( or plastic sheeting) to rig up to deflect the massive abount of wood chips and shavings that the beast will throw off looking at your layout. Your bench looks like it it in the firing line, and the curtains can drop the majority to the floor and reduce the clean up.

It is WAAAY too clean in there. Get to work, mister! Congrats! I'm a 3520 owner as well. My only gripe is that I wish it were heavier, but I like big out of round NE pieces. As Thomas suggested, shower curtains or hanging sheets are going to be a must if you want to keep the shavings confined to one area in your garage. They get EVERYWHERE! Have fun, & turn safe!

Gee Mike, when I read the post title I thought that you had left the bird seed in the garage and Big Bird had moved in:eek:

I'm glad to see that it's simply another Powermatic lathe luring another victim into the vortex.

Enjoy your new lathe........Regards, Rod.

Congrats Mike and welcome to the Musturd club. ToolNuts is s great place that is where I got mind. Yes they are much more awakward and heavy than you think to put together the engine hoist was a good idea I hurt myself a little putting mind together. But they are very solid and a great lathe.

PS if you need a monster hollowing system for it I have one for sale in the FS sec and it matches the paint, sort of ;)
