Messed up need some ideas

I'm making the attached tablesaw/routing station from Wood Mag. After I had all of the parts for the tablesaw base parts cut out I noticed that the hight of this base would be a full 3" shorter than my factory base for my tablesaw. I hate the idea of wasting all of the material and re-cut and I don't want my tablesaw 3" lower than it's current level. Any ideas anyone has to raise this 3" while still looking decent would be appreciated.

Just make a 3"-tall box to go under it and put the wheels on that.
You might even be able to add a drawer in there for seldom used things.
Don't ask how I know this will work.......
By the way. If this turns out to be your worst screw up, you're my hero!

If I understand your problem correctly, it's like the top of the "shelf" where the saw in the picture sits is 3" too low.

If that's the case, I'd make a 3" deep box that covers that entire side of the station. You might need a center divider for support, but you could easily get a side by side pair of shallow drawers out of it and it should look OK. The shallow drawers would be a great place for blades, push sticks and the like.

I agree with Rob. Rather than futzing about with the bottom, which is designed for strength, add a riser under the saw for the necessary 3" with a couple drawers in it for small accessories and a coresponding riser for the router side with the necessary adaptations.

2x4s are 1.5" thick and 3 5/8" wide...darn close to the 3" you need and 2 just might do it...should cost you under 8 bucks I think. :)

'Could be because the picture was taken in WOOD Magazine's photo "shop" in the basement of their facility in Des Moines IA! It's always clean like that, although the one they have upstairs to actually do the projects has some nice sawdust evident.

If you haven't bought your casters yet buy bigger ones, especially if you have an uneven floor or ever take it outside.
