Laser Engravers

OK, I know nothing about these (except they can get expensive real quick).

My application woud be guitar peghead plates (inlay) and rosettes.

How "little" of a machine should I go? If I have to spend $thousands, I will not be interested. Not practical.

I would not be a heavy duty user.

Any decent laser besides the chinese made lasers are in the several thousand dollar range.
