I spent several days deciding how I wanted to turn this oak burl before I dove in with my bowl extracting tools. After all the shavings and dust settled to the floor, this strange little monkey man jumped out right at me. The bowl measures 6 1/2"t X 10"X 12". This is one of the pieces that I'm going to be putting an instant gallery next weekend at the Turning Southern Style Symposium in Helen, GA. I would like some help with suggestions on a catchy title for this bowl. Any Creekers out there who are planning on going to the Symposium be sure and look me up.

Toney,

That monkey appears to be scratching his chin contemplating something.

Tony that is a great looking piece. I agree it looks like he is scratching his chin thinking.

Tony,
That just looks too cool.
I have no name for it, but the others sound good, after looking at it.
"The Ape Thinker". Just kidding I haven't a clue. Just know that I like it.

I have always thought "Filbert" is the proper name for a monkey.

Thanks for the suggestions, they are some there I hadn't thought of, but 'Filbert' was actually the 1st one that came to me, Rob.

Tony - that is an interesting bowl and deserving of a great name! Been toying with a couple of them - Hanuman - which is the Hindu Monkey God and represents physical strength, perseverance and devotion and the other name is Neanderbowl because it looks much like I would envision the first bowl had to look like!

No matter - I wish you well with your showing and hope to hear you won some sort of recognition for your efforts!

Ok, I resisted last night, but after seeing it again today, I can resist no longer. Call it "Now where did I put that prune juice" :D
