I'm looking at picking up the Jet 708531 JWP-16OS 16" planer from Craigslist and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this unit? It looks to be in good shape and a decent price. I need a planer and thought this might fit the bill. I just can't find much in the way of reviews.

Any comments on this unit?

ive got it and am very happy with it! Ive had it nearly 2 years and it has worked flawlessly with my moderate use (+/-1,000bf). I am due for a blade sharpening, so the surface is not "finish ready" but even when the blades were new, i always use hand tools to do final surface prep. i suppose you could replace the head with a spiral but for me its not worth the expense.

Good planer for the money and i have no complaints. I bought it new and paid about $1,000 so if you can get a good deal on CL i'd say "GO FOR IT!"

Good luck!

Good to hear. He wants $400 for it, so it sounds like a great deal. Thanks for your mini review! :)

I paid $400 for a JWP-15CS (15") recently, with 3 sets of blades and a stack of mahogany and maple cut-offs. I thought I got a good deal.
