I entered the piece I made called Monsoon in FWW's "What have you turned lately" contest. I was thrilled to have made the top 15 but to win is a real honor. The competition was extremely talented so to have come out on top really blows me away. IMHO everyone in the contest was deserving of winning, I'm just the lucky one. I'd like to say thanks to FWW and everyone that voted for me.:)

Bill - congrats on your win! Absolutely beautiful work! You really had some stiff competition - so to win a contest of this caliber is quite the accomplishment! Congrats!

I presume it is ok to post a link to the FWW website with pictures of his work. I hope this is also your work, unless someone else liked the Monsoon name :) Very nice piece of work.

Congratulations, Bill! :D
And you're welcome. I was worried you wouldn't win - when I voted you were second or third. I tried stuffing the ballot box, but the darn website was wise to me. :)
So, what did you win?

Thank you guys so very much. To win this contest in itself it the biggest prize. The archive DVD set sure is some nice icing on the cake though. I can't believe I won this prestigious contest. That will go right at the top of the Ol resume'.
I know I haven't done anything to top this yet. I've been making a little money building humidors lately. When I catch up on them I'll get back in the saddle and try to out do this one. I do have some ideas but they give me nightmares thinking about the complexity. This is definitely motivation to go for it though.
Thanks again to all my fellow wood workers for your support. My piece is definitely in the company of greatness. Everyone in the contest is extremely talented. I feel humbled and blessed to have been a part of this incredible group of turners. God Bless and keep turning. :)

Just trying to understand the underlying process of preparing the blank is a challenge for me!! The planning and assembly is masterful enough, and then throw in the actual turning process - and that is how masterpieces are born!!

I don't venture too often over here to the "round" forum ('cause I'm skeerd of the vortex:D), so I didn't realize you had these talents as well. I was immensely impressed with your exquisite humidors and thought you had to concentrate all your efforts into those to make them so beautiful.
You work is fantastic. Congratulations.
