I haven't really spent much time in the shop since the new baby was born, but with the long weekend I thought I'd make a few things. I had this scrap of cherry burl laying around, and thought I'd see if there was enough wood in it to hold it together. I've included one shot with a top, thought Im' ont particularly fond of this top. The piced is about 5" wide and 3.5" tall.

Sure is some great looking wood! Interesting form but not sure of a finial style that would compliment it. Looks pretty good just the way it is. Should really improve with age as the cherry will continue to darken when exposed to sunlight.

Glad you were able to spend some time turning! Nice to break away every now & then!

Very gnarly "scrap". Better send it to me for safe disposal. Meanwhile might try just a simple dome lid with small knob and see how it looks? Maybe best as is with no lid.

Really nice HF and wood is really knarly. Pretty though. IMHO I would leave the final off.
