Well...another weekend has come and gone. I'm getting a little concerned about Bob Lasley..!!!! I have emailed him but no answer. Just wondering if he is OK. Greg...do you know?

Anyway, no shop time this weekend. Spent too much time with the real J.O.B. and was too tired Sunday afternoon to do anything. So I spent the evening with the family and rested.

So how did your weekend go?

Took last week off. Tuesday and Wednesday finished burying and adjusting sprinkler system destroyed by shop construction. Thursday, Friday and Saturday painted main body of shop with 2 coats of paint. Only the facia and door trims are left to be painted. A young MR tech new to the area asked me to deer hunt with him. Sunday he and I went to the mountains to an old hunting area of mine. We had a good time and saw wild turkeys, grouse, white tail deer, 3 cow elk followed by a bull elk with a large antler rack. I informed this young man (he's the same age of my youngest son) enjoy this view of this bull elk.....you won't see him once the season opens! It rained on us yesterday....fog......still had a wonderful time and trip! :D

As far as I know, Bob's ok. I do know for a fact that he has been very busy with his JOB that he has hardly any time for anything else. I know he's teaching a class here at the store next week. I don't get to see him much anymore either. :(

This weekend went better for me than last weekend. Last week I watched 60 mph winds drive 16 inches of rain from left to right while tossing around tree limbs like they were matchsticks. :eek: One neighbor lost nine 16 to 24 inch diameter trees. Fortunately, all were way back on his lot and no other damage was done. My other neighbor wasn't so lucky. He lost four trees. The largest was 39 inches in diameter and that one missed two houses as it fell. Unfortunately, two of the others hit his house with one coming through the roof above the dining room. The final one went through the roof of the house next door into their living room. Both houses were further damaged by the amount of rain that leaked through the holes in their roofs.

We didn't get power back until late Wednesday night and many folks in this area still do not have power. I consider myself to be very lucky overall.

Sooo... this Saturday was spent cleaning up the remaining limbs and branches from my yard, helping a couple of neighbors cut down small trees and limbs that had been damaged but had not yet fallen, and cutting up fallen limbs and trees for a couple of other neighbors so they could be hauled off. All you need to do to be popular in my neighborhood is own a chain saw! :D

I did finally get back to some woodworking Sunday afternoon and made a bit of progress on the SCMS stand that I'm building. Mostly it was some well deserved and much appreciated stress relief. :) :) :)

PRETTY DARN GOOD

Since it was my 72nd BDay I spent Saturday watching football from 11:00 am until 11:30 pm :) :) :)

I took a break from the TV version to watch my 8 yr old Grandson play in a youth game. He is #32 in the attached pic about to put the hurt on the running back :). Please take notice of his form, "breaking down" for the tackle. I wonder where he learned that. :)

Sunday was back to the grindstone. Made 20 braclet helpers and prepped some pen blanks in preparation for my upcoming Craft Show this weekend. No way will I be ready for it. Just have to do the best I can between now and Thursday.

It was a productive weekend for me...got the shop "renovation" done (see http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=11959 for the pictures) as well as a few little things around the house. DVD of the week was the Spanish Prisoner which was enjoyable. The 'rents arrived from Florida yesterday evening just to insure that Ivan didn't hit that state, so it will be a fun-filled week of running around. Fortuntately, there is no business travel going on over the next 5 days.

Great week end! Came away feeling I completed what I set out to do, and then some. Was able to sneak up in the attic and make some electrical and plumbing connections before it got too hot. Getting ready for the tool sale. Trim work, boat work and spent some time with my mom. Life is good.:cool:

I accomplished what I wanted to do on the shop. That is, I installed the chimney, finished shingling the roof, and finished sheeting the walls. I also spent a half day on an outing with my grandchildren to an apple orchard/farm.

I installed an accessory power port and a GPS unit in the boat as well as wire up another sonar transducer (I don't like the sensitivity of the one on the trolling motor). Before Saturday ended I also replaced the trim around my garge door openings. On Sunday we went out fishing. Managed to catch a bunch of pan fish (wife wanted a bunch of panfish for some fermented fish sauce she's making) and my wife also latched on to a 30" Pike (her first fish). The accessory port worked well as the kids plugged in their PlayStation 1 and played Crash Team Race when they got bored fishing.

As usual, my list is longer than my weekends! :D

I got a good start, however, on the partition. I had to sit and do some serious thinking about where exactly to put it but the PT sole plate and top plate are both in (all 2x6 this wall will be) and now it is time to put in the studs along with cutting them to prepare for wiring and some plumbing.

It is kinda interesting...since the garage floor slopes, so does the PT sole plate that is bolted to it. My first stud I cut the bottom at just under a 3º angle to fit nice and plumb. I was debating whether or not to cut the sole plate at an angle (too diffiicult on a 2x6 and PT is nasty to cut too much anyway) or just shim the 2x6 studs or sole plate or spend a little extra time cutting the studs at an angle. I opted for the latter. It takes a bit more time (I cut sample pieces first and check them before cutting the stud) but I enjoy it and it is fun and, heck, that is what a CMS is for! :D

Picked up a cheapie window from the borg along with an exterior door for the laundry room. I got a nice wide 36" door.

I yanked the old side door out and filled it in with 2x4s and the new window. Now it'll need some stucco work to fill in. Don't worry, I saved the curtain for future use in that area! :D

Spent a couple of half days in the shop this weekend. Made 5 Bottle stoppers, 2 bottle stopper display stands, 8 pens and 4 pencils (4 of them match sets).

The granddaughter is staying for a couple of days so I will get a rest from the shop and spend some nice time with her, unless she want to go into the shop. She is the one that likes to help turn pens and I can't let her down now can I? :D :p

Turned my 1st bowl on Saturday, it was small and shaped more like a ramekin. It was made from a green piece of firewood, and broke before I could finish it. I was able to fix it, but its not worthy of a picture post. Anyway, I am looking forward to coming down to Arkansas Friday to the Central States Bar BQ where I can learn from a couple of expert types.

Anyway, after making a big turning mess in the shop I cleaned it up. (Hadn't cleaned the shop it in two or three project anyway, it was a huge mess.

While I was cleaning, I was putting away a sheet of MDF in my woodstorage cart, when I tried to pull the cart away from the wall, both front wheels broke off the cart, and if I hadn't put a bunch of wood under the cart, it might have tipped over and fallen on me. Now, I have to figure out how to reattach casters to a cart full of about 1200 lbs of wood on it. (the bad part is I have to pull the cart out to remove the wood......which I can't do now). :mad: I am going to buy a good car jack and create a better design to support the cart.

Oh yeah, and SUNDAY I watched several hours of football, and Chris before you say anything, I don't want to hear about your stinking Broncos. This week, my high school team, my college team, my pro team, and probably my fantasy team will have all lost in Football. :mad:

I finally got around to putting together my router table. I connected the top and made some drawer boxes. Slides arrived today. I'll post pix when I'm done.

I also went to my sons first soccer game. 5 yr old soccer is pretty funny to watch. Otherwise, chilled and watched F1. Didn't even cut the lawn, so next weekend should be fun :eek: .

Got some more shop cleaning done. Tore down the mower, blowed a head gasket.:(
Got pickup all loaded up with tools for Monday staircase railing job, ready to go. Shop bored so I need to get out for a while.
This morning I found out before I left that this new house for the cherry railing had gotten flooded, due to the 12" rainfall we got in two days.
So the drywallers are there re drywalling. They are in my way, so stayed home today.
Had the grandkids [3] here over the weekend. Got some visiting time in there.
Started building my new Pentium 4 super puter for the shop.:)

I actually got some things done for once.

Finished up the fence and table for the other side of the CMS and Morticer. I rough cut up the pieces for a client's Morris chair. Built 4 legs (wrapped design so all 4 sides have QS Oak), started milling slats for the sides. Had a clean shop but now dirty cause I ain't finished a overhead guard with DC and I also routed without DC.

Organized some lumber I had in the garage for another project (on hold), so now it found space in the shop.

Rewired the the TV/Stereo Home Theatre system due to the Antenna A on the big screen messing up, the picture is fine but the channel no longer changes (numbers do and sound, but the picture remains stuck on channel 3). So bypassed the VCR and now have to use Antenna B. No money to replace now, who knows maybe I'll add a new one in the house budget when that times comes.

Bought my son a new bike, he out grew the other. Also had to shop for soccer stuff as Monday night (tonight) is his first Micro Soccer practice/game. Played with him all day Sunday, no shop time that day.

Also saw my college, pro and of course most likely fantasy team (Jack's co-owner) lose.

Pretty typical late summer weekend. Obligatory yard work, and watched my Rams, beat the Cardinals. Still don't its going to be much of a year though. Made a rudimentary holder from PVC to get the lathe tools of the bench, and started a mock=up out of scrap for the next project. Hven't done any flat work for a while since I've been playing with the Lathe!

I finished framing the overhang and I have the rafters done and the columns installed. Thats me doing a highwire act triming the ridge beam to length.
