Corel is looking for a few engravers to test the latest version of CorelDRAW. I wanted to drop in to let you know that the beta application forum is live for a few days yet if any of you want to apply.

http://defectreporter.corel.com:8080/cqweb/main?command=GenerateMainFrame&service=CQ&schema=2003.06.00&contextid=beta&username=BetaApplicant&password=Corel&entitySubmitType=CGSBetaApplication

Thanks folks!

Tony,

Any chance this includes a free copy (or at least a license) of X5 when it's released? :D

Tony,

I've been on a number of software and hardware based betas, and have yet to participate in one where an RTM copy isn't provided, assuming there was real participation (i.e. submit bug reports, etc.).

Though, Corel could be different.

Well I'm trying for it. Anything that can help us as engravers can only be a good thing!

I signed up, hopefully I'll be chosen :D

I filled everything out, but now it's prompting me for a database sign in?

It did the same to me, I closed that - It should be submitted once you saved it.

Having been a beta tester on an earlier occupation, I will happily WATCH. :) :) Keeping my laser happy has been difficult enough of late.

I was surprised to see some of the applications listed... it tells me Corel isn't burying their head in the sand and looking only at a few specific uses. They actually list laser engraving as an application, they specifically list ULS machines in their printers section (rather than just "other"), Inkscape in their apps section, etc. That alone is impressive to me.

Tony,

Dan: Good question. The testers who log defects during the cycle will receive a full license at the end.

Do defective users count? :D I know there's a screw loose with the nut behind the keyboard at my place.

So if I read that right, we only get a license if we find a bug? I signed up, and I can be pretty thorough in my testing (embedded software engineer by trade), but I would hate to bash away for weeks on end only to not find a bug (good for you guys) and not get a license (not so good for me).

Looks like this board gets a lot of attention :>

From last Friday until today 430 people have read the invite and over 30 applied for the program...OUTSTANDING!

With that said, I think we've got our quota of Engravers now :>>>

Thanks again
Tony

Has anyone been accepted into the program yet, or at least received some form of notification? I'd like to see a list of what has been added since X4.

Lucky dog! Make sure you post up any major bugs you run into... if anyone else is accepted into the program, it would be nice to be able to repeat the bug and try to find some commonality.

Well I don't think we will be able to discuss anything outside the Beta program community because of the NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement), sorry.

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty sure you are not even supposed to say that you have been accepted for the Beta Program. BTW, I'm still waiting to hear about my application.

Dan,
I'm sorry, but I thought that both were playing the same game, then I guess I didn't understood the meaning of your post # 26, now will you explain to me what did you meant with "You've got mail" ?

Tell me what do you not understand and I will try to translate for you.

My "you've got mail" post was a short way to say I was accepted into the program... I think there was confusion all around at that point ;)

I think I'm beating this poor program into the ground... I haven't even hooked up the tablet yet for fear it might run away from the pressure (no pun intended). I'm having a lot of fun, though, trying out some of the toys I've never bothered with. When the testing is over and it hits the market, I'll be sure to provide a full review... I'm liking it so far.

Ruben Salcedo

LOL, :D

Yes, there is the confusion, I thought that you were trying to scare me saying that I Got an email from Corel, since some body had mention that we didn't even have to mention that we were accepted, and since I did...

Well all I can say is welcome aboard! :)

Ruben
