Is that the vinyl stuff about 3mm thick?? I bought some of that for a vinyl customer that went south on me.

What did you do...Put the prismatic foil on a piece of acrylic, then vector cut the names ?

Where'd you get that Steve? Looks cool. I cut names out of aspen like that.

Looks really cool Steve, thought I was tripping out there for a while, is that like the laser foil that you stick on the top?

Yes, the stuff is just like laser foil. I think I bought it at Walmart or someplace like that. It came in a 12"x 12" sheet for about $2 and you apply it like a sticker. It comes in a dozen different patterns and colors. I put it on clear acrylic and vector cut....didn't even have to change my normal settings. That's the same piece in the picture only from 3 slightly different angles and based upon how the light hits it, it changes colors.

There was really no difference if I cut with it on the top or bottom of the acrylic. Then I cut a second piece and sandwiched the foil between the two pieces.

Someone on here suggested this a long time ago and I happened to be walking through the store the other day and decided to pick it up and try it.

That stuff looks great - so shiny and colorful - I feel Christmas ornaments calling! It would make great giant snowflakes for those folks in the south where they don't get snow. Thanks for the lead, Steve!

If memory serves (from only a few days ago ), I believe sign Warehouse was having a blowout sale for some of their holographic vinyls. Might be worth a look for some...

Steve,

That looks cool. Can you be a little more specific as Walmart is all we have out here for a 100 mile radius. Even then Wallys is a 70 mile round trip for me.

Also what department?

Thanks

Dave,

I double checked the receipt.....it was actually at Hobby Lobby.....aisle 3A......half way down on the left.....about chin high.

OK, just kidding about the directions.....but it was Hobby Lobby and it was in either the scrap booking or stationary section.

If you have any scrapbook stores near you, I'm sure they would carry the stuff. otherwise, just check in stationary stores. And when you find it, make sure it peals off.....

Michael's is another craft store that carries that kind of stuff.

Nice job Steve, will look out for it when I go to Walmart next time, maybe when I need an oil change

Go to your local sign shop and ask to buy some, Im sure they will be happy to provide you with some. Assuming that they would have some in stock.
I get people all the time at my shop who have mini cutters and buy my vinyl scraps and vinyl by the foot.

Yea, but we can't cut vinyl with our lasers and I would assume a sign shop would be more expensive than Walmart.

Thanks Steve,

I'll have to add that to my next trip to Phx. Living in clean air and sunshine has it's drawbacks. :)

Are you sure it is not PVC???

Are you sure it is not PVC???
That was MY question. If it's vinyl, it does have PVC in it. I would be very careful cutting it.

You could always do the simple burn test, and know for sure!

It's polyester.
