I want to make some toys for my grandson looking for plans would like to turn wheels and other parts for cars and trains has any seen plans and where would like plans that have parts that I can turn not buy?
I see lots other turnings here but on toy cars or trains that have wheels,smoke stacks and other parts turned. Grandsons can't get to trilled with bowls and pens at 1 yr old:confused: .

Dahl, I have made a top that is pretty good for small hands, a 1 year old may have a little trouble with it though. My 3 year old can do it fine. I'll try to shoot a picture tonight and post it here. Also, I made a rolling clacker thing before I had a lathe, but the design would be very adaptable to a lathe. It's kinda like the roller toy here http://www.finewoodentoys.com/brio_plan_toys.html

Here is a picture of the rolling toy I made. It's pretty simple, but it has given hours of enjoyment. As I noted, I made it from stock dowels and I cut the ends on a bandsaw and shaped them on a sander before I had a lathe. You could easily take this design up a notch with some embellishments.

Surprisingly, I couldn't find the top in the mass of toys we have. I even looked under the couch!
