I've been wanting to take the jump to turning and try pen making.
Have you ever posted some of your work on e-bay?
I've got a couple desk clock designs that I've been making as gifts for the past year and a half, and was thinking of trying them on e-bay or at a crafts fair.

I don't post anything on e-bay -- too much hassle -- I have a store on my web site though.

Ken, thanks for the post. You have a great presentation and layout. I for one thank you for your knowledge that you pass on to newbes like me. I've learnt a good bit by reading all your posts. Sit back and have a Bud Lite and take care. :p

Ken,

Great looking presentation / booth layout. Did they have a good turn-out for the craft show, and were you able to move a lot of your items?

Great work as usual.

You have a very professional looking booth.
LMOL had my help at craft shows for 18 years.
Our daughter was brought up under the table in her bouncy chair. So it was exciting to see your granddaughters with you folks. What a big smile it brought to my face.
The woodworking pens etc. look wonderful.
And I like your table drape.
Great photos, Ken. Thanks for sharing.
Dan :D

Very nice products that are displayed very well. I look the professional looking signs. So many places the signs are handwritten and sloppy. I assume the excellent signs help your sales tremendously.

Ken,

What a great layout! Did you have to pay extra for the corner or did you have priority from previous shows? ;)

I like your display stands. Simple, yet very effective. Everything is easy to see and readily available for touching. I was thinking of making a "tree" for my key rings and it was shaping up quite similarly to yours. Thanks for confirming the general design.

I hope that you get some "down-time" to recover from the long hours. 8 hours a day is long, I can barely imagine back-to-back 11 hour days, to say nothing of setup and breakdown. (ooh, my body aches just thinking about it).

Thankfully, our Arts & Crafts sale is 3 hours (11 am - 2 pm) with 1 hour each available for setup and breakdown. Since this will be our first craft sale, the shorter hours will give us valuable experience without wiping us out. My wife and I are sharing a single 8' table for her ceramics and my pens, pencils, keyrings, necklace perfume pendants, etc. I'll probably make 3-5 stands and see which ones work best.

Cheers,
Bob Janka

Bob --- The way this large hall is laid out (4 booths in a square) gives each booth a corner. Booths are 10' x 12' with 125 individual booths in this hall. For our Christmas show we use a larger hall with 175 booths. We always have a booth sell-out with a waiting list in case someone cancels out.

I am on the Board of Directors and on set-up day (day before first show day) I am responsible for coordinating drive-in/set-up. So the advantage I get is setting up my booth on Wed night always somewhere in one of the front 2 rows in the hall.

Ken, is that the NEACA show??

LOML and I worked that show for many years. Remember Sticks 'n Stones?? We did wire and crystal jewelry and enjoyed NEACA for several years. As I remember, we had to cancel the NEACA Christmas show due to my first heart attack in '97. Did a couple more when I recovered and then retired totally in '98 or '99.

One of my favorite memories of traveling with the kids was NEACA '95 if memory servers. Not sure about the year, but it was c-c-cold!!! My son and daughter were exploring the frozen edges of the little lake out front and found a goose egg, freshly laid. My son cradled that egg in his hands for two days, then all the way back to Eufaula.

The two of them insisted we buy an incubator. In spite of my protestations and dire warnings that the egg couldn't possibly hatch, Grover was born a few weeks later and became the neighborhood pet until he swallowed a worm in our lake. Unfortunately, the worm had a fish hook installed and Grover is now a fond memory like so many NEACA shows.

Oh BTW.. great booth. Kinda makes me homesick.. nahh...
