I'm about to begin one of my first projects, which will be a workbench. I'm at the point of purchasing the wood for the top and have the opportunity to purchase some nice hickory boards which I plan to glue up for that purpose. I would like any comments or ideas as to using Hickory for this purpose. If it helps I'm planning to make the top 26 inches by 60 inches. Thanks in advance for the advice.

make sure its dry first, then let it aclimate to your shop air for a month, before starting to use it. I air dried the pin oak timbers I used for my bench in a friends shop for 8 years, then let it aclimate for almost 2 months in my shop before starting to thickness plane the planks.
