LOML and I just switched to DirecTV and was setting up my DVR which got me wondering if there was any other shows out there that I don't know about. So far I have it set up to record NYW, Woodsmith Shop and WoodWrights Shop. Wood Works doesn't even show up anymore on the list....

What do all of you record?

My sorry PBS affiliate shows none of those shows except NYWS, and they preempt it about half the time. DIY basically shows nothing woodworking related anymore, only thing I tivo from them is Renovation Realities. I get Holmes on Homes from one of the other channels.

That's all I have set, woodworking related. Wood Works hasn't been produced in years. Even when they were still running it, it was all reruns so I dropped it off my list quite some time ago because I'd seen them all.

I don't have a DVR but if I did I would try to get the Red Green Show. It's better than anything on HGTV. :D

Not much out there to DVR anymore as far as woodworking shows.

The ones I do record are Scott Phillips (American Woodshop) and New Yankee. Both air regularly on the PBS "Create" channel. Woodturning Workshop is another one I've seen on Create. You'll find Create over-the-air, or in some digital cable packages.

LOML tells me that I watch woodworking shows like some men watch porn or sports. Can't really argue, thank goodness for DVR. I can't get enough, even if it is something I have seen before. I just watched the instruction and tips video for the Kreg Pocket hole jig system 4 times.

...I watch woodworking shows like some men watch porn...

That's something I definitely don't want to see.

All we can get is NYWS. All the others went poof.
It's OK, though. I get more done in the shop, now.

I frequently time shift Norm, unfortunately Roy isn't available, he's been replaced by 3 guys who show you how use a tablesaw, or some other such stuff.

Pretty poor selection in Toronto, someone needs to produce a good woodworking show with an emphasis on high end work, involving lots of hand tools.

You mean that there are still some on TV...I thought all of them were dropped and time slots were given o home decorating.

Yes, it's pretty sad. The current trend in "entertainment" has to include conflict, drama and tantrums.

They call it "reality tv" nothing could be further from the truth.

American Woodshop (as it came up) is a new one to me, thanks!!

I watch them all, but my wife wonders why when I complain so much about them. Honestly, if I need a vicarious woodworking fix I find podcasts to be a better option (TChisel is one good example).

Oh yeah -- I forgot about that one. It's called "The Woodsmith Shop," also on PBS. That's the other one that I record on the DVR. It's an "OK" show, not the best. Not project-focused enough for me.
