We are planning to re-side our house with CVG Western Hemlock clapboards, and have received many different opinions on house wraps. I have read the UMass study by Paul Fisette, and am guessing that 15# felt paper is the way to go, but I'm curious what others think and if there are any opinions on HOME SLICKERŪ PLUS TYPARŪ, which is mentioned in the finehomebuilding.com housewrap article.

We are also planning on either leaving the hemlock natural or possibly using a breathable oil (Cabot Australian Oil), which we used on our newly built barn with ship lap pine and it still looks brand new after three years.

Here are the details of our home:
Central Vermont (-25 F to 100 F); on top of a hill; fully exposed to all weather, rain, snow, sun, etc; walk out basement that is very wet (humid) during the summer, requiring a dehumidifier running constantly; forced hot water boiler and/or woodstoves for heat in winter (very dry).

Specifically in regards to weather, we often get intense rain storms that soak the house, pass by, and then expose the sun, leading to quite a bit of vaporization of water. In addition, we have three inset windows in the gambrel roof that accumulate ice jams in winter.

Thanks for your time and thoughts,
Milo
