looking for an adapter

has anyone ever seen a 1 1/8" X 12 threads per inch down to a 3/4x16 threads per inch adapter?

Curtis - just check with some of the regular woodworkers supply type of retailers and you should be able to find something.

Guess I am not sure what you are looking for then as the site I listed has both variations of adapters for the size threads you listed. Check out the first 2 listings.

that site has 1x8 and 1 1/4x8 but not 1 1/8x8 they have the thread size, but they dont have the one and 1/8 spindle size

Try Oneway....They have many adapters.....Some in odd sizes.

Why do you want to adapt the 3/4-16 to an obviosly big lathe? Something that odd, and getting a custom machine job, will probably be expensive. May be slightly more to buy a new component.....

You might have to look at using two adapters to make the size change (1 1/8 to 1" and then 1" to 3/4"). That would add extra length and probably more potential for wobble that happens with adapters, but you might have a need for the 1 1/8 to 1" for other uses.

well. i might be getting a new lathe for very cheap. and i dont want to have to go buy a new chuck and make new vacuum chucks. i just wanna see what i might have to do be for i actually get the lathe

Seriously~if you can not find (1) that works,, having a machine shop fabricate that would not be all that expensive, most importantly,,, tiering to get to the size using 2-3 adapters is not a smart solution in my opinion~ you may have a serious accident trying to use several adapters. call a local machine shop and you will feel a lot better working on your lathe knowing there is no chance of the set up malfunctioning on your lathe, or at you.

ok. i will most liklye do that. as soon as th elathe is finalized i will post pictures of it.
it is a 100 yr old verion of the mustard monster. the headstock flips around and moves and can slide to the end for bowls. the machine weighs 300lbs, but i will add some weight. it has almost brand new bushings on it (for some reason i always end up finiding things with bushings)

Curtis, have a look at Vermec (www.vermec.com (http://www.vermec.com)) Enzo makes adapters along with some beautifully made tools. He worked with his brother (Vicmarc) so knows a thing or two about chucks and lathes.
