Hey Gang,
Here is another recent turning. It is a Cherry Natural Edge that is 14-1/2" wide and 4-1/2' tall. I saved most of the bark, but with it that large and turning air a lot of the time, I feel lucky to have saved most of it. I Sharpened tools often. As most of my turnings it is Beall Buffed only to keep natural colors in. I am sure it will darken with time though as cherry usually does. Critiques and comments are always welcome.

That is a really nice NE and the cherry look really good. I really like the look right off the lathe to the buffing wheels.

Ken - your Cherry NE looks great! Gonna look amazing in 3 to 5 years when the Cherry darkens up! Nice work!

Great looking piece, is that a small bark inclusion or is it the other side of the log? I'd love to see it after a suntan!

Ken, That's a really nice bowl. I like the natural cherry. I have never turned a NE bowl. I hope to try one soon. I am a little concerned about getting a serious catch and breaking the bowl. I guess I just need to give it a try.
Thanks for posting this.

Eugene,
Go for it....... What have you got to lose. The wood literally grows on trees ya know? This one was my first N.E. of this kind, so I really took a chance too. I was more worried about form than I was anything else.

Thanks to all for your comments.

Nice job Ken. The form and finish look good. Natural cherry is one of my favorites, the color will only get better as it ages.
